1Introduction
Welcome to GST Calculator India ("we," "our," "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit our website at gstcalculator.net.in (the "Service").
This site is owned and operated by Kaisar Ahmad, an independent web developer based in India. We've built this Privacy Policy to be clear, honest, and easy to understand — because you shouldn't need a law degree to know how a calculator handles your data.
Our commitment: We respect your privacy. We've designed this site to require zero personal data to function. You can use every feature without telling us anything about yourself.
2Data We Collect
We collect very limited, anonymous data to keep the site running and improve it. Here's the complete list:
Anonymous Analytics
When you visit our site, our analytics provider records the following non-identifying information:
Data Type
Purpose
Identifies You?
Page views
Understand which pages are popular
No
Country (not city)
See which regions use the tool
No
Device type
Optimize for mobile vs desktop
No
Referrer URL
Know which sites link to us
No
Browser language
Plan future translations
No
Server Logs
Our hosting provider automatically maintains standard server logs that include your IP address, request timestamps, and the pages you accessed. These logs are kept for 30 days maximum for security and abuse prevention, then automatically deleted.
Contact Form Submissions
If you choose to submit our contact form, we collect:
Your name (as you provide it)
Your email address (so we can reply)
The subject and message you send
This data is used solely to respond to your message. We don't add you to any mailing list, share it with third parties, or use it for marketing.
3Data We Don't Collect
We want to be explicit about what stays private. We do not collect, store, or process:
🔢
Your Calculation Inputs
Every number you enter into our GST Calculator stays in your browser. We never see the amounts, rates, or results.
Your name, address, phone number, or PAN/Aadhaar (unless you submit them via contact form)
Your GSTIN, business details, or financial information
Your invoices, bills, or transaction data
Your precise location (we only see country-level data, anonymized)
Your search history or browsing behavior outside our site
Biometric data, health information, or any sensitive personal data
Information from your device's contacts, photos, or storage
The GST Calculator runs entirely on your device using JavaScript. Your numbers never leave your browser. If you turn off your internet after the page loads, the calculator still works perfectly — proof that no data is being sent anywhere.
4How We Use Data
The limited anonymous data we collect is used only for these specific purposes:
Site improvement: Understanding which pages are useful so we can improve them.
Bug detection: Identifying technical errors that affect users.
Security: Detecting and preventing abuse, spam, or attacks.
Performance: Optimizing load times and mobile experience.
Customer support: Replying to your contact form messages.
We do not use your data to:
Build advertising profiles
Sell to data brokers or marketers
Train AI/ML models
Send unsolicited emails or notifications
Track you across other websites
5Cookies & Tracking
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by your browser. We use cookies sparingly and only when necessary.
Essential Cookies
These are required for the site to function. Examples include:
Theme preference: Remembers if you've chosen light/dark mode (if available)
Calculator settings: Remembers your last GST rate selection (purely local, in your browser)
Analytics Cookies
We use privacy-respecting analytics (similar to Plausible or Fathom) which set anonymous, first-party cookies that don't identify individual users. These cookies expire automatically.
What We Don't Use
Third-party advertising cookies (Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, etc.)
Cross-site tracking pixels
Remarketing or retargeting cookies
Behavioral profiling cookies
Your control: You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. The GST Calculator will continue to work — you just won't get the small convenience features like remembered settings.
6Third-Party Services
To run our site, we rely on a small number of trusted third-party services. We pick providers known for privacy:
Service
Purpose
Data Shared
Web Hosting
Serving the website
IP, request data (30-day logs)
CDN (Cloudflare)
Speed & security
IP, request headers
Analytics
Anonymous traffic stats
Aggregated, non-personal
Google Fonts
Web fonts
IP only (one-time fetch)
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and is contractually obligated to protect your data. We never authorize them to use your information for their own purposes.
7Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your information to anyone. Period.
We will share data only in these limited circumstances:
Legal requirement: If compelled by valid Indian court order, subpoena, or legitimate law enforcement request.
Safety threats: To protect our users, our service, or the public from imminent harm.
Service providers: With trusted vendors (listed above) who help us operate the site, under strict confidentiality.
Business transfer: In the unlikely event of a merger or sale, your data would transfer with the same protections in place.
If we ever receive a government data request, we will challenge it where legally permitted and notify affected users where allowed by law.
8Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold:
HTTPS encryption: All traffic to our site is encrypted via TLS 1.3.
Secure hosting: Servers are protected by firewalls, DDoS mitigation, and regular security patches.
Limited access: Only Kaisar Ahmad has access to server logs, and access is logged.
No data lakes: We don't aggregate user data into queryable databases.
Automatic deletion: Server logs are purged after 30 days.
However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach occurs, we'll notify affected users within 72 hours as required by GDPR and the DPDPA.
9Your Rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), the EU's GDPR, and similar laws, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we may hold:
👁️
Right to Access
Request a copy of any personal data we have about you.
✏️
Right to Correction
Update inaccurate or incomplete information.
🗑️
Right to Erasure
Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
📦
Right to Portability
Get your data in a machine-readable format.
🚫
Right to Object
Object to specific processing activities.
⚖️
Right to Complain
File a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@gstcalculator.net.in. We'll respond within 30 days. There's no fee for these requests, and we won't ask for excessive verification.
Reality check: Since we don't collect identifiable data from typical users, there's usually nothing to access, correct, or delete. These rights mainly apply if you've contacted us via the contact form.
10Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 18 in some jurisdictions, including India under the DPDPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us at hello@gstcalculator.net.in and we'll delete it immediately.
That said, the GST Calculator itself is safe for use by anyone — students, including minors, can use it for school projects without any data being collected.
11International Users
This site is operated from India and is primarily intended for Indian users. If you access our site from outside India, please note that your data may be transferred to and processed in India.
For European Users (GDPR)
If you're in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation. Our legal basis for processing the limited data we collect is legitimate interest (running a free public service) and consent (when you submit a form).
For California Users (CCPA)
If you're a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Since we don't sell personal information, the CCPA "Do Not Sell" requirement doesn't apply — but you can still exercise your access and deletion rights.
12Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other reasons. When we make material changes, we will:
Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
Post a prominent notice on the homepage for at least 30 days
Notify users via email if we have your address (for significant changes)
Your continued use of the Service after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the changes. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
13Contact Us
